Sunday
After a 12 hour tour day, sleep was good. Cool today. Headed to Masada, Dead Sea and Jericho. Bus #1 is a fun bus!! Dale is wearing his Learning University T-shirt- Tim liked it.
We have Walker Wildman today.
On our way to Masada saw shepherds and their sheep and goats in the desert. Saw date palm trees.Saw Mt. Moab and En Gedi (partially destroyed by a flood). En Gedi was were David hid from King Saul.
Took a cable car to Masada- amazing! King Herod had this fortress built- it took 12 years. There was a black line in the stones and everything below it was original. What amazing work. The Zealots took over many years later.
Teresa took over for our driver- help!!Saw some gazelle. Lunch at Qumran. Shared a chicken sandwich. Toured the place were Dead Sea scrolls were found by a shepherd. Essenes moved here from Jerusalem and transcribed the OT in 3 languages. They placed them in jars and hid them in 11 caves. We will visit the museum that has the Dead Sea scrolls later.
The Dead Sea was rough today so they had it roped off. Waded in. Teresa swam and came out covered in mud. Toured Jericho- saw Zacheus’ sycamore tree. Shopped at a store that sold Heston glass and Dead Sea products.
Bus #1, the Red Bus, is a hoot! We have laughed and all enjoyed each other. Back to the hotel around 6:30. Another amazing day in Israel!
Dinner was wonderful again!! Chicken and onions, salads, beef, fish, French fries … beautiful dessert spread!! Yum!! What a blessing this trip has been.
It rained in Jerusalem all day today, but we were out of the city and had great weather/ thank you Jesus!✝️
